NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – The New Jersey teen suing her parents for tuition and a $650 a week allowance went on a Facebook rant Friday morning, taking shots at “suburban baby boomers.”
Rachel Canning, 18, claimed she was kicked out of her home by her parents and took them to court for tuition for her high school and college education and for living expenses.
On her “Education For Rachel” page, the embattled cheerleader from Morristown wrote, “Suburban baby boomer types are the spoiled lot, they make massive amount of money a year, they are used to flying to luxury destinations when they want, and buy things that they don’t need, people should be inclined to see things Rachel’s way.”
Rachel says she was subjected to verbal and physical abuse, while her parents, Sean andElizabeth Canning, say the teen was simply unruly and didn’t want to abide by their rules. Court papers show the teen was suspended from school for drinking.
“We have been stunned by the financial greed of modern parents who are more concerned with retiring into some fantasy world rather than provide for their children’s college and young adult years,” the tirade continued. “In today’s economy there are no more meaningful jobs and without family help it’s usually military or bust.”
The girl’s lawsuit is being funded by her friend’s father, John Inglesino.
The Cannings say the Inglesino family is partly to blame for their daughter’s outrageous behavior.
“She would often tell us how the Inglesino parents would allow alcoholic parties to be held at their house. Mrs. Inglesino gave all the girls wine coolers to drink,” court documents said.
Rachel ends the rant with, “We see parents like this every day, children were always an accessory to them and nothing more, once that accessory grew up and went out of fashion, much like a marriage that people allegedly commit to, the child becomes a throwaway, that’s just how it is.”
The post has garnered over 500 comments. “Quick whining and join the military, they have a program to fix child-adults like yourself,” one comment reads.
Another court hearing for the case has been schedule for the end of April.
