A giant fish tank at the T-Rex Cafe in Orlando’s Downtown Disney area cracked open Monday afternoon, sending diners scrambling from their seats and workers rushing to save the fish.
“The staff — they were doing the best job that they could,” witness Kate Wallace told the Orlando Sentinel. “It was craziness. Just kind of people freaking out. It’s not something that you see very often. How do you respond to that?”
Wallace also posted a photo on Twitter:“Was just at T-Rex in Downtown Disney just now and the glass to a giant fish tank just cracked and water started pouring out,” another witness, Michael Pappas, posted on Facebook. “Then about four waiters climbed in and started scooping up the fish. It was chaos. Everyone in our section had to leave.”
At least one photo posted online shows the workers climbing into the tank.
The restaurant remained open despite the incident. A Disney spokeswoman said the leak was small, some fish were removed and some tables had to be relocated, ClickOrlando.com reports. There were no reports of injuries and it’s believed all the fish were saved.
T-Rex is a themed restaurant run by Landry’s. It features animatronic dinosaurs and dishes such as the “Gigantosaurus Burger” and “Tyrannosaurus T-Bone” as well as a dessert called the “Chocolate Extinction.”
