Proctor & Gamble are the corporation behind a whole bunch of household products (I’d list them but they didn’t pay us for the ad space), and the Olympics are always one of the biggest sporting events of the year. The combination obviously leads to boatloads of advertisements, trying to tie in the company to this international celebration of athletics, the human body and worldwide friendly competition.
I’m a big believer in the power of athletics to teach valuable life lessons, and this commercial captures that, and the necessary, loving support of family (espescially mothers) in this absolutely tear-jerking portrayal. No success comes without failure, from learning to walk to learning to compete on the highest level. How we cope with failure and learn to keep pushing is one of the most valuable aspects of personal development, and our mothers have such a huge role in comforting us and helping us get back at it.
